SVCAC agenda all about cannabis



The Sonoma Valley Citizens Advisory Commission (SVCAC) meets next on May 23, and all four items on their agenda are cannabis-related projects.

The public meeting starts at 6:30 p.m., in the community room of the Sonoma Police Department, 177 First St. West, Sonoma.

The SVCAC is an advisory panel that makes recommendations to government planning officials on development projects and issues.

On the agenda is a request for a use permit for a 1,891-square-foot cannabis dispensary in an existing 3,000-square-foot office building at 15499 Arnold Dr. in Glen Ellen, at the corner of Madrone Road.

GoodHarold LLC has an option to buy the property if and when the county issues a use permit for the dispensary. Then the property would be leased to Petaluma-based nonprofit Apothevert for a medical marijuana dispensary. A neighborhood group has already expressed opposition, citing in part its location to residential neighborhoods.

The SVCAC will also review a use permit request for an outdoor cultivation permit for 50 plants, and a 500-square-foot indoor cannabis grow, both at 2211 London Ranch Road in Glen Ellen. The property owner is the Michael and Mary Benziger Trust.

Another agenda item is a proposal from Haight St. Inc. to allow a cannabis dispensary at 105 Fremont Dr. in Sonoma. The application includes two new 5,000-square-foot buildings, one for the cannabis dispensary, and one for general retail.

The last item on the agenda is a use permit request for 7,200 square feet of indoor cannabis cultivation in an existing 10,348-square-foot warehouse at 1201 East MacArthur St. in Sonoma.
