Sugarloaf-Hood shuttle on Aug. 12
Saturday August 12th - 8:00amPeople who prefer a one-way hike between Sugarloaf and Hood Mountain Regional Park can use the Sugar Shuttle on the morning of Aug. 12, with the six-passenger carrier departing every half hour from 8 to 10:30 a.m., starting at Sugarloaf.
Park manager John Roney said the shuttle works best taken from where you park your car to the destination, then walking back at your own pace.
The 7.4-mile hike is fairly rugged, traversing a 2,300-foot elevation change, but offers spectacular views along the way through a cross-section of the area’s varied ecology.
Hikers usually take from 3.5 to 4.5 hours for the one-way trip, but taking the shuttle allows for a more leisurely pace, taking time out to eat, read a book, paint, photograph or pursue other interests along the way, and arrive at your car without retracing your steps.
Reservations are suggested, along with a $10 donation. Call 833-5712 to book a ride or ask questions.
