Annual Checkerbloom gala at Deerfield
Deerfield Ranch Winery
Saturday June 16th - 6:00pmDeerfield Ranch Winery will host its 13th Annual Checkerbloom Gala on Saturday, June 16, 6-10 p.m. Proceeds benefit the restoration of the Kenwood Wetlands, a wildlife habitat and home of the endangered Kenwood Marsh Checkerbloom.
The theme of the gala this year is “40s Supper Club.” During the 1930s and 40s, the golden age of supper clubs, Hollywood royalty and high society frequented New York’s famous Rainbow Room, Copacabana, and El Morocco. They enjoyed fine American cuisine and performances by some of the world’s best-known jazz artists.Tickets are $125, or $100 for wine club members.
The evening begins on the crush pad overlooking the wetlands, followed by a 1940s-themed dinner prepared by Deerfield’s Executive Chef Christine Rex, and live music by Dirty Cello, a high-energy, cello-led blues and bluegrass band.
There will also be an art auction showcasing the works of Deerfield’s resident artist, Fred Parker, Star Wars art by metal artist Manwell Gali, and glass-blown vases by Dan Soper. Proceeds from the auction will be donated to the Kenwood Marsh Checkerbloom Society, a nonprofit organization founded by Deerfield owner PJ Rex. The organization manages the restoration and maintenance of the Kenwood Wetlands and protection of the checkerbloom. The nonprofit was granted a permanent conservation easement to forever protect the wildlife habitat.
