Richardson will discuss three faces of the counterculture movement during the Sixties, a time of change that began in San Francisco and had a major influence for the entire second half of the 20th century. He will be using PowerPoint, with emphases on what was occurring in lifestyle, fashion, food, politics, and the sexual revolution.

Sept. 23 – “Waking Up,” Erin Brockovich

Erin Brockovich, the legal aide who made history with her now-famous lawsuit against PG&E in California, will talk about the class action suit against PG&E for its alleged negligence in clearing tree limbs away from high power electric lines. Brockovich is a legal clerk and environmental activist, who, despite her lack of formal education in the law, was instrumental in building a case against PG&E in 1993 for leaking toxic chromium 6 into the ground water. Her successful lawsuit was the subject of the 2000 film Erin Brockovich, which starred Julia Roberts. Since then, Brockovich has become a media personality as well, hosting the TV series Challenge America with Erin Brockovich on ABC and Final Justice on Zone Reality. She is the president of Brockovich Research & Consulting. She also works as a consultant for Girardi & Keese, the New York law firm of Weitz & Luxenberg, which has a focus on personal injury claims for asbestos exposure, and Shine Lawyers in Australia.
