Dinner benefits homeless women, children
Wild Oak Saddle Club
Thursday May 16th -The Wild Oak Saddle Club adjacent to the polo field behind Oakmont will be the site for a fundraiser for The Living Room, a Santa Rosa program for homeless and at-risk women and their children that provides a safe and comfortable environment during the day when shelters are closed. “Loving the Living Room” will take place May 16, 5-8:30 p.m.
The Living Room serves women and children of all ages, races, ethnicities, sexual orientation, religions, and socioeconomic backgrounds, homeless for a multitude of reasons. Many of have fled domestic violence, resulting in a loss of income or economic support. Substance abuse and mental or physical illness are also causes of homelessness.
Information on supportive social services are made available to the women and their children, and they are offered a place to learn new skills and move toward independence and self-sufficiency.
