Newcomers lunch features Canine Companions
Tuesday June 2017 -
The next Santa Rosa Newcomers Club luncheon is Tuesday, June 13, 11:30 a.m. at the Quail Inn in Oakmont. This month, the club will hear a presentation from Canine Companions for Independence, a national nonprofit organization that enhances the lives of people with disabilities by providing highly trained assistance dogs and ongoing support to children, adults and veterans with disabilities free of charge.
Founded and headquartered in Santa Rosa in 1975, Canine Companions is the largest nonprofit provider of assistance dogs in the world. These dogs assist their handlers by picking up dropped items, turning lights on and off, and opening and closing doors and drawers, among other tasks. At this meeting, you’ll learn about the incredible assistance dogs and the people they serve. You’ll also have the chance to see these dogs in action and meet puppies training to become assistance dogs.
Luncheon price is $25. Please mail your check to SR Newcomers, P.O. Box 3978, Santa Rosa 95402, before June 3. Include your phone number and specify choice of pork loin, rock cod or large chef salad. The Quail Inn is located at 7025 Oakmont Dr.
