French piano recital with Esfir Ross

Jack London State Historic Park presents an afternoon of French piano music performed by Esfir Ross on Sunday, Oct. 29, 2-4:30 p.m.
Born in the tiny country of Moldova, Ross started studying the piano at age 6. She graduated from Kishinev conservatory with a degree in piano and worked as a pianist in Moldova, Israel, and Greece. In 1980, she immigrated to the United States and has participated in many amateur competitions, and played in several recitals at festivals in Argentina, Italy, Japan, Israel, Germany, France, the U.K., and the U.S. Ross has studied piano with the famed Karl U. Schnabel, and was featured in the documentary film, They Came To Play, which depicts several competitors at a Van Cliburn Competition.
Ross will be playing Charmian Londonís historic 1901 Steinway piano in the House of Happy Walls Museum. Refreshments will be served at intermission. Tickets are $20 (including parking) and are available in advance at the museum store, online at www.jacklondonpark.com, or by calling 938-5216.
