Learn about oaks, redwoods and climate

Trione-Annadel State Park

Saturday September 22nd 2018 - to

Hike with a naturalist on Sept. 22, at Trione-Annadel State Park, and learn about the role of oaks as a keystone species in the park, both today and historically. Learn how to identify the varieties of oaks by looking for leaf and stem galls, and talk about the effect of larger scale climate change on plant communities in Trione-Annadel. Volunteer naturalist John Lynch leads the hike up Canyon Trail to Lake Ilsanjo and back down Spring Creek Trail (approximately five miles round-trip). Hike begins at 9 a.m. and returns to same parking area about 1 p.m. Park at the Parktrail Drive entrance off of Summerfield Road in Santa Rosa.

Wear hiking shoes, layers appropriate for weather, and bring water and a snack. Some trails are rocky and uneven. Heavy rain cancels. Free hike. No advance reservations needed. Dogs not allowed. There are no restrooms or water at the parking area or inside the park.

See the Trione-Annadel State Park website for more details about the park, www.parks.ca.gov, search Trione-Annadel.
