Advent and angels at Kenwood Community Church

There are four Sundays in December leading up to Christmas Eve, Dec. 24. This season of anticipation and expectation is called Advent. Every Sunday in Advent, greeters hand out angel ornaments at the front door of Kenwood Community Church, so that everyone has a chance to decorate the Christmas tree in the sanctuary. Music Director Harold Julander and the choir promise a season full of special music for the holidays, including selections played on a Virginal (an early relative of the Harpsichord) that Harold built with his father when he was a teenager.

On Sunday, Dec. 2, the Rev. Charles Ensley’s sermon will be “Adopting an Advent Attitude.” Worship begins at 10:30 a.m., followed by food and fellowship in the social hall.

There will be a “Giving Tree” to help provide gifts for families in the greater Kenwood area. Choose a name, purchase the gift, wrap it and bring to church; it will be delivered to the selected families.
