Oakmont board election

OVA Candidate Forum on Feb. 19

A field of five candidates for the Oakmont Village Association (OVA) Board will appear at a public forum at the Berger Center on Tuesday, Feb. 19, to answer questions from members. The candidates night will begin at 6 p.m.

Members will be electing four directors, enough for a majority of the seven-person board, in voting that ends at the annual meeting on April 1.

Ballots are being mailed to members between Feb. 15 and 22 and must be returned by mail or at the annual meeting.

The five names on the ballot are Steve Huntley, who would be serving his first term, plus four incumbents: Carolyn Bettencourt, Heidi Klyn, Noel Lyons, and Al Medeiros.

Issues facing Oakmont include OVA’s relationship with the Oakmont Golf Club, the future of the Berger Center, possible expansion of the Central Activities Center, upgrades to the central pool, and a dog park now under development, and can be expected to dominate the forum.

The April 1 annual meeting begins at 9 a.m. in the Berger Center. Ballots will be tabulated after the meeting, and results announced at a board organizational meeting that afternoon.
