Fire safe council has stamp of approval

First District Supervisor Susan Gorin (center) poses for a photo with the Mayacamas Fire Safe Council, represented by (L to R) Roberta Acker (board member) Lisa Warner (chair), Kristen Drummond (co-chair) and Brandi Asker (community liaison). The council will continue to seek grant funding for fire prevention projects, aided by its newly signed Community Wildfire Protection Plan (held by Drummond). The first project the council will tackle this year is to install “Ready for Wildfire/Harden your home” signs adjacent to its current “fire danger” signs on Cavedale and Trinity roads. “Our hope and our goal is to raise awareness of the importance of home hardening. There is always talk about defensible space, but home hardening is just as important,” said Drummond. Photo courtesy of the Mayacamas Fire Safe Council
