'Community beautification abounds'

Peeking out from behind this year’s Glen Ellen Village Fair Quilt is Laurie Pile, the newest member of the Glen Ellen Village Fair Committee. The five-foot-square quilt was designed and pieced together by Pile who was inspired by the rebuilding on O’Donnell Lane. The final task of quilting the design will be done by the Glen Ellen Village Quilters (Mary Ann Carr, Margie Foster, Cathy Leonard, Marsha Moran, Deb Pool & Pamela Wiley). “The quilt is a depiction of what has been going on in Glen Ellen this past year,” said Pile. “Houses are going up. Rebuilding is happening. Excitement and anticipation are in the air. Community beautification abounds.” Raffle tickets for the quilt are available by contacting Leslie Vaughn at or 935-9163. Raffle tickets are three for $5, seven for $10, and 15 for $20. Additional raffle items will be revealed throughout the coming months and on the day of the Glen Ellen Village Fair, Oct. 13. Proceeds will be distributed back to the community’s nonprofit organizations. Photo by Pam Cortese
