Dunbar melodrama turns 25
Dunbar School is proud to kick off the 25th season of the fifth grade Melodrama Project. Auditions were held in February and rehearsals started this month. Kate Kennedy will return to Dunbar as director (this will be her 16th year with the fifth grade play).
Recently, parent volunteers, Kennedy, and school administrators had a script reading at the home of playwright Squire Fridell, who also plans to be more involved this year to help celebrate the 25th anniversary. This year Dunbar will once again experience A Bad Day at Gopher’s Breath and as has become tradition, the performances will be held on Memorial Day weekend out under the majestic oak trees surrounding Dunbar’s Haver Stage.
Expect alumni to be in attendance, reminiscing about their theatrical debuts, perhaps having played the villain, Amos Crutchwaffle, or the heroine, Bambi Phingerdoo, or maybe having participated in the beloved SOUND SQUAD!
This month Dunbar is kicking off a capital campaign for the Melodrama Project to help launch the school into the next 25 years of this beloved tradition, and to help celebrate Dunbar School’s 160th year! If you can manage to make a donation (of any size) please make a check out to “Dunbar School 5th Grade Play” and drop it off at the school office, or mail to 11700 Dunbar Rd. Glen Ellen, CA 95442.
