4th of July – it’s closer than you think

It’s time to start thinking ahead to summer, July 4 to be exact. You can live your dream of being a part of the Kenwood Hometown 4th of July Parade this year. Bring the kids, the old folks, your pets, your cars, and be a part of Kenwood’s enduring and endearing annual celebration. And it’s never been easier to do. You can sign up online at www.kenwoodparade.org (look for “online signup”) or download and print your own form. You can also pick up a paper entry form at the Kenwood Press and drop it off there when you’re done.

It’s also a good time to decide if you want to take part in either the 10K or 3K Kenwood Footraces that kick off the day’s celebrations. Sign up early at www.kenwoodfootrace.com, because it often sells out. Check in and race-day registration start at 6 a.m. The races start at 7:30 a.m.

There will be the traditional pancake breakfast at the Kenwood Community Church, as well. Footrace contestants get a $5 break on the $8 breakfast fee. And the day will be topped of with a BBQ and family fun from the Rotary Club of Glen Ellen-Kenwood. Enjoy a relaxed lunch with your neighbors while listening to live music.

Volunteers are always welcome, too. Please call Jay Gamel at 833-5306 if you have any questions.
