It looks bad, but the unidentified pilot got out of this wreck uninjured after an emergency landing in a field off of Sonoma Highway near Dunbar Road on July 15. No one else was aboard the Stohl CH701, which was heading toward the Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport. Kenwood Fire Chief Daren Bellach said the plane was flying at 2,500 feet when the engine started shaking. Coolant splattered all over the window, and then the engine died, causing the small aircraft to crash land. A Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) spokesman for the Western-Pacific Region said the FAA and National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the incident.
