Explore foster parenting
Every day, 50-75 local children and teens need a safe place to live in our community. There’s an urgent need for temporary foster parents and adoptive families to open their homes to local foster children and give them a place they can feel safe, wanted and loved. Foster and adoptive parents can be single or married, straight or gay, with kids or without, own a home or rent. What you offer is attention, care, structure and a kind adult presence to help children and teens heal. If you’ve ever considered becoming a foster parent to a local child or teen, learn more by attending a one-hour, upcoming monthly discussion to help you decide if it’s right for you. Explore Foster Parenting is held once monthly, 6-7 p.m., at the Permit and Resource Management Department in Santa Rosa. Upcoming dates are: Aug. 28, Sep. 25, Oct. 23, Nov. 27 and Dec. 18.
