Benefit for Plaza Park Gazebo
Sunday October 20th 2013 -
Ground breaking has begun for the new Bobby Musser-Kirby Gazebo at Plaza Park in Kenwood, and a fundraising event is planned for Sunday, Oct. 20, 2 to 6 p.m. in the park.
Tickets for the Oct. 20 event are $30 for adults in advance, or $35 at the door. Kids under 10 are $5.
The afternoon will feature delectable BBQ ribs and chicken, a silent auction, and dynamite live music from Jami Jamison and the Moonlight Riders, John Burdick with Laura Benward, the Kenwood Jazz Trio, and special guests.
You can get tickets in advance at the Kenwood Press office, the Vineyards Inn, Swede’s Feeds, or online at kenwoodgazebo.brownpapertickets.com. The event moves to the Kenwood Firehouse if it rains.
Bring your own blanket, lawn chair and re-usable water bottle.
The building of the gazebo, named in memory of Bobby Musser-Kirby, is a true community effort, thanks to a donation by the Kirby Family, efforts by the Sonoma County Regional Parks Foundation, the Kenwood Plaza Park Ad Hoc Committee, and a tremendous outpouring of support and offers of volunteer labor, materials, and equipment from the public and private businesses. Skilled volunteer workers will be forming and installing steel for the gazebo platform, paths and stairs, and installing the steel columns for the overhead structure. The target for the completion of the gazebo is November.
The planting of a shade garden is also planned, in memory of Candace Heim-Serrano and Glory Whitehead.
The gazebo is the final major component in the Kenwood Plaza Park Master Plan, and will provide a stage and gathering area for future community events and activities.
Donations are welcome for the Silent Auction – services, massages, art, jewelry, vacation rentals, etc. Call Amy MacNair at 696-7342 or email email@example.com.
