Solar and star viewing at Observatory

Robert Ferguson Observatory

Saturday June 28th 2014 - to

June is a busy month at the Robert Ferguson Observatory in Sugarloaf Ridge State Park.

On both June 21 and June 28, there is solar viewing from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with solar telescopes set up so you can safely look at and listen to the sun. Admission is free. There is an $8 Sugarloaf parking fee.

Also on June 21 and 28, there will be a Star Party starting at 9 p.m. The observatory’s three main telescopes, plus many others, will be open for viewing. Ongoing presentations on astronomical topics will be given in the classroom. Docents will be on hand to answer your questions.

Admission to the Star Party is $3 per adult, those under 18 are free. Sugarloaf parking is $8. Drive all the way up Adobe Canyon Road in Kenwood to reach the park and the observatory.
