Look to the sun, stars at Sugarloaf

The Robert Ferguson Observatory at Sugarloaf Ridge State park in Kenwood is hosting solar viewing from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., on Saturday, Aug. 27, with solar telescopes set up so you can safely look at and listen to the sun. Admission is free. There is an $8 Sugarloaf parking fee.
Also on Aug. 27, there will be a Star Party starting at 8 p.m. The observatory’s three main telescopes plus many others will be open for viewing. Ongoing presentations on astronomical topics will be given in the classroom. Docents will be on hand to answer your questions.
Admission to the Star Party is $3 per adult, those under 18 are free. Sugarloaf parking is $8. Drive all the way up Adobe Canyon Road in Kenwood to reach the park and the observatory.
