What you can do about climate change

Oakmont West Recreation Center

Thursday September 14th 2017 - 6:30pm to

The Oakmont Democratic Club will present “Climate Change: Understanding and Responding - What You Can Do Now in Sonoma County and Beyond,” on Sept. 14 at the West Recreation Center in Oakmont. A panel of experts will discuss the ways California leads in solutions to global warming and protection of its jeopardized natural resources. This is a non-partisan issue and everyone is welcome to attend this free event.

Check in begins at 6:30 p.m., and the program at 7 p.m.

Panelists will be Barry Vesser, Deputy Director, Center for Climate Protection, Santa Rosa, who also coordinates the Business for Clean Energy program and writes an informative blog; David Warrenber, a volunteer for the Santa Rosa Chapter of the Citizens Climate Lobby, a not-for-profit, non-partisan, grassroots advocacy organization focused on creating the political will for a livable world; and Liz Yager, program manager for the County of Sonoma's General Services Department's Energy and Sustainability Division, which promotes and delivers solutions necessary to mitigate environmental impacts and prepare for climate change. The moderator will be Alex Hinds, a leader in environmental protection and sustainability. In 2009, Hinds co-founded Sonoma State University's Center for Sustainable Communities.

The Oakmont Democratic Club (ODC) meets on the third Thursday of the month at the Oakmont West Rec Center. To volunteer and serve on the ODC board, contact President Molly Fleischman at 755-3722 or molly@ffrsf.com.
