Walk into Fall

Jack London State Park

Saturday October 20th 2018 - 9:30am to

Saturday, Oct. 20

Park naturalist John Lynch will lead an autumn ramble to examine the changing season. Lynch will help you identify the variety of oaks that live along the trail, look for “oak apples” and “flying saucer” galls. Learn about “acorn time” and the importance of oaks as a keystone species in the Valley of The Moon. Listen for the “waka waka” of acorn woodpeckers. With Halloween around the corner, you might just discover some “witches broom,” as you look closely at different kinds of spider webs, and learn about our local bats. This walk is appropriate for all ages. Runs 9:30 a.m.-noon. Bring binoculars, a camera, water, and wear appropriate shoes for park trails. Admission is free, parking fee applies.

For details and registration for any of these events, visit www.jacklondonpark.com.
