Saturday March 23rd 2019 -
Supervisor Susan Gorin is planning two public workshops on fire readiness and emergency preparedness. Both of these workshops will take place at Altimira Middle School.
The first workshop on March 23, 9 a.m.-noon, will focus on vegetation management.
Gorin is bringing together representatives from the state, county and local organizations to provide attendees with an overview of large scale vegetation management efforts in the state and the county. Those in attendance will also learn what some local organizations have done, and are planning in the future.
“Vegetation management is an incredibly important issue in Sonoma County,” Gorin said. “Property owners, neighborhoods and HOAs, communities, city, county and state government all need to work together and in parallel in order to make a meaningful impact.”
Anyone interested in learning what is being done to improve fire readiness in our county is encouraged to attend.
The second workshop will be on Community Preparedness, including defensible space, home hardening, firewise landscaping and COPE. It will be on May 4, 9 a.m.-noon.
You can stay up to date on the event and agenda on Supervisor Gorin’s website at sonomacounty.ca.gov/Board-of-Supervisors/District-1/ or on her facebook page at www.facebook.com/susangorin1st/.
