CHP addresses senior safety

Thursday April 18th 2019 - to

California Highway Patrol Officer David DeRutte will address older driver safety and mobility at the April 18 luncheon of Sons in Retirement #53 at Oakmont’s Berger Center.

“Our objective,” said DeRutte, “is to reduce motor vehicle collision and pedestrian deaths and injuries experienced by older Californians and to increase seniors’ alternate transportation options when driving is no longer an option. The CHP’s mission is to provide the highest level of safety, service and security to the people of California. To that end, addressing older driver safety and mobility is a high priority for the CHP.”

SIR Branch #53 meets on the third Thursday of each month in Oakmont’s Berger Center, 6633 Oakmont Dr. A social hour starts at 11 a.m. with luncheon at noon catered by A La Heart Catering. Ladies are welcome at 1 p.m. to hear the speaker.

In line with its effort to create new activities for its members, the SIR 53 Book Discussion Activity Group is being reactivated. Details on the types of books to be read and how they’ll be chosen will be available soon. To join the group or get further information, email Ed Kelleher at edwardkelleher1@gmail.com.

Any Oakmont man interested in attending this presentation and/or membership should contact Dave McCuan at 539-3028.
